Orders in Diplomacy

  1. Hold
    Not much of an order.

    Example:
    A Paris hold

  2. Move
    Pretty basic.

    Example:
    A Paris --> Burgundy

  3. Support a unit in place
    Supporting unit must have ability to move to the supported unit's province.  The supported unit can itself hold, support or convoy, as long as it stays in place.

    Example:
    A Burgundy hold
    A Paris S A Burgundy

  4. Support a unit moving
    Supporting unit must have ability to move to the supported unit's target province.

    Example:
    A Munich --> Burgundy
    A Paris S A Munich --> Burgundy

  5. Convoy an army moving
    The fleet must be ordered to convoy the army, and the army must be ordered to make the move.  The fleet must be in a water province (not Denmark or Constantinople).  A chain of adjacent fleets may be used.

    Example:
    A Norway --> Brest
    F North Sea C A Norway --> Brest
    F English Channel C A Norway --> Brest
